Our Company
We, "Encore Natural Polymers Private Limited", are an Indian company in the business of manufacturing different native and derivatized natural polymers for varied applications. Our company was previously known as "Indian Gum Industries Ltd." (IGI). Today, owing to the reorganization of the parent Merchant family, the Ahmedabad business division of IGI independently operates under the name Encore Natural Polymers Private Limited.
Since our inception in 1958, we have been pioneers in the field of manufacturing native and derivatized polysaccharides, and, in recent years, have kept abreast of emerging, modern, and state-of-the-art technologies and products to develop quality gums for diverse applications. We currently manufacture and export natural polymers for use as textile printing thickeners, in oil drilling and fracturing fluids, and as paint, construction, and paper additives.
Our R&D manufacturing and testing laboratories, combined with our application laboratories enable us to customize our products to our clients’ requirements. Additionally these units allow us to constantly innovate and evolve our product offering.
Our products, adherence to strict quality control measures, and our focus on customer satisfaction have earned us a name in the international market. We now face significant demand for our products around the world, our primary markets being the oil drilling and fracturing industry, the textile industry, and the paint industry. Our textile printing thickeners command a premium price in India, China, Turkey, Italy, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Pakistan and South America due to the high quality standards we maintain, as well the consistency in quality of the products. Our paint additives have been widely used worldwide.
We strive to provide excellent customer service, working jointly with our customers to modify and improve products to meet their exact needs. We are always looking for ways in which we can improve our customers’ experience with our products, whether by blending multiple products, modifying manufacturing methods, or creating new, patented products for sole dealership rights.
Quality Standards
We at Encore Natural Polymers Private Limited, strive to exceed customer expectations of quality. All our products are extensively tested at every stage – from raw materials and additives, to finished products – before and after they are shipped to customers, to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards. Our research and development, quality control and quality assurance teams ensure that sub-standard products never leave our facility, and that our customers get the same quality product every time.
Our marketing team works with the research and development, quality control and quality assurance teams to run the applications laboratories at our facility. Within the applications laboratories we test each batch of our products to ensure our customers will not face any problems in their operations.
We are committed, not only to our high quality standards, but to improvement and innovation. Our research and development team constantly attempts to improve our existing products and to create new products that enhance our customers’ work and experience. In recent years, we have pioneered in developing new products that meet all our customers’ needs. Our new innovations are awaiting patent authorization, and have been well received by all our customers. We have developed a number of new products for the textile printing market, with at least one new product launched every quarter. Products have also been developed for the construction and paint industries, and testing is under way for new cationic products*. Our development teams extensively test each new product, and constantly endeavor to improve it to meet our customers’ wants and needs.

Our History
1954
Mr. Gordhandas Jamnadas, the founder of Indian Gum Industries, was traveling by ship, when he met a co-passenger, the head of the Cesalpinia Group, Italy. The Cesalpinia Group was in the business of manufacturing locust bean gum, from locust beans grown in Europe. Prices for locust beans were rising, and they came to a decision to search for other seeds that could be used as thickeners.
Mr. Gordhandas Jamnadas returned to India, and spent close to three years researching over 300 seeds to find a suitable seed to manufacture natural polymers.
The guar plant is identified as the ideal source for natural polymers. Guar, originating from the words "Gau Ahar", meaning food for the cows. It was fed to cattle as it was composed of 68% protein. 28% of the pods were the endosperm, which provided no nutritional value to cattle, but was ideal for the manufacture of Guar Gum, a Natural Polymer.
